Recognize Military Families with Obama and Biden

First lady Michelle Obama and second lady Jill Biden are set to formally unveil a new phase in their campaign for military families on a level comparable to the first lady’s trademark “Let’s Move” campaign. Focusing on four main areas — employment, education, wellness and public awareness — the first and second ladies will collaborate with businesses and private organizations to help support the loved ones of the country’s troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. Their efforts are applauded! However, they’re more likely to see success when they have more interest and  widespread support from the public, but until the public is more intimately acquainted with the experiences of military families and can empathize with their position, they’re not likely to get on board.

That’s why families and their supporters are doing what they can to have their voices heard and drum up that public interest along with the famous, well-known voices that are given attention in the media. Nominate the military family as TIME’s next Person of the Year. If you support military families, join in! Write a letter – or print and mail the one that’s already been written for you.
